30 Poetry Forms From Across The World
Join me in my NaPoWriMo 2021 journey with this unique prompt list!
This is my 5th year participating in National Poetry Writing Month – NaPoWiMo. Honestly, it’s international poetry writing month but we stick with the name for the sentiment!
The world’s poetry
I have tried Haiku and I attempted sonnets in the past. But I was certain there had to be more types of poetry out there! The kind we never studied in school, the kind we never heard of. And so began my research.
I was surprised but also not so surprised to find that throughout history, all parts of the world have been indulging in this blessed form of art. And so this April, I am going to learn and I am going to attempt each one of these poetry formats. I’d love if you’d join along this literary journey!
Prompt list

Most of the poetry prompt lists out there are about words or concepts on the basis of which you have to write. My prompt list, however, is all about introducing you to a variety of poetry types from different countries and letting you follow your heart and write what you desire.
How to follow along
You can do this prompt list in any month! It doesn’t have to be April 2021. You can one or ten of these forms, you don’t have to do all thirty! All art ends where restrictions begin, that’s what I strongly believe.
You can read my poems and see how I explore this list on my Instagram page. In the captions I will explain how to write each of these forms and you can always DM me to discuss if you have any doubts.
Do remember to tag me when you try this prompt list, I’d love to read what you come up with.
Happy writing xoxo
